Questions we get a lot.
Do I need to create an account?
No. MyRoadTripBuilder works entirely without an account. Your saved routes are stored in your browser. No email, no password, no sign-up.
How does the $5 unlock work?
Click "Unlock Full Access" anywhere in the app, pay $5 via Stripe, and you're redirected back to the planner with everything unlocked. It's stored in your browser permanently — no login required. If you switch browsers or clear your cache, use the code sent to your email to unlock again.
Is it really a one-time payment?
Yes. $5 once, full access forever. No subscription, no renewal, no surprises. We think that's the right way to do it.
What is the Day Trip explorer?
Enter any starting point and a number of hours you can drive. The map fills in with a shaded zone showing everywhere you can realistically reach by road in that time. Great for figuring out weekend trip options when you don't know where you want to go yet.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. MyRoadTripBuilder works on mobile browsers. For the best experience on a long trip, we recommend planning on a desktop or tablet and then sharing the route to your phone for navigation.
What mapping data does it use?
Routes use OpenRouteService with OpenStreetMap data. Points of interest come from Overpass API (OpenStreetMap). Weather comes from Open-Meteo. All open-source, no Google dependency.
